CFD Study of an Air-conditioning System using Displacement Ventilation and Chilled Radiant Panel

Displacement ventilation, as a dedicated outdoor air system, to satisfy demand of comfort degree in work area, supplies low temperature and low speed fresh air, formed air lake near floor surface. Due to the influence of heat source, supply air is heated and goes arise, and reduces the surface temperature of heating object, with air outlet discharged exhausted air as much as possible. Radiant cooling is a type of air condition system which is run by exchanging heat between radiant panel and room air, with low temperature, realized high energy efficiency ratio of unit. According to statistics, radiant cooling air condition system can save about 28--40% energy compared with conventional system. Based on national meteorological parameters, C.Stetin carried out simulation calculation on commercial buildings and found that energy consumption of radiant cooling system could save as much as 30%. In conclusion, floor radiant cooling with displacement ventilation system is a new technology to which is paid much attention recently. Based on the method of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), indoor thermal environment of an laboratory was studied by numerical simulation of hybrid air-conditioning system of displacement ventilation and chilled panel with two load conditions/. The results indicate that the new system can reduce indoor temperature gradient and improve human thermal comfort.
