Comparisons of Air Distributions among Three Widely Used Indoor Units

The ceiling mounted cassette type (FHY), ceiling embedded vessel inner type (FBY) and floor-standing type (FVY) indoor units were introduced in this paper. 160 thermal couples and 48 velocity measuring points were located, which were used to study the temperature and velocity distribution of these three types indoor unites with different air supply angles. In order to evaluate the unsteady character of air distribution, a new index--Temperature Rise Speed (TRS) was presented to describe how fast the occupied zone air gets to the setting temperature for the working of the air conditioner. The results show that air distribution of ceiling mounted cassette type indoor unit is the most uniform, while floor-standing type indoor units can change the indoor temperature fastest. The horizontal flow of ceiling embedded vessel inner type indoor unit results in badly air short cut phenomenon.
