Numerical Solution of Condensation from Turbulent Flow of Gasoline Vapor in Vertical Tubes
Gasoline vapor is multicomponent mixture of light hydrocarbon vapors and generated in the processes of fuel stockpiling and transportation. The light hydrocarbon vapors of the mixture can be liquefied and recovered by low temperature utilization of cascade refrigeration circulation. A two-phase model was presented for condensation of gasoline vapor in vertical tube. The variations of temperature, liquid film thickness, pressure, and Nusselt number in tube were obtained using this model. Effect of the two independent variables (inlet values of pressure, Reynolds number) on the liquid film thickness and Nusselt number were examined. Its found that mass transfer resistance of incondensable gas has a very strong effect on the condensation process. The application of this model was compared with the results of previous experiments, yielding good agreement.
