Effects of the Geometrical Parameters and Operating Conditions on the Filtration Efficiency of the Plain Wave Fabric Filter using Response Surface Methodology

Numerical simulations of plain wave fabric filter whose warps and wefts are made of filaments with different dimensions were performed to study its the filtration performance. A prediction model of the filtration efficiency of the plain wave fabric filter was obtained based on response surface methodology (RSM) by means of the statistical software program (Minitab V15). The results show that the horizontal distance, the vertical distance and the face velocity play an important role in influencing the filtration efficiency of the plane wave fabric filters. Compared with the vertical distance, the effect of the horizontal distance on the filtration efficiency seems more obvious at the low face velocity. While for the high face velocity, the effect of the vertical distance on filtration efficiency of the plane wave fabric filters become significant. In addition, the effects of the vertical distance and the horizontal distance on the filtration efficiency of the plane wave fabric filters are varied with the face velocity. Furthermore, the filtration efficiency increases with the face velocity.
