Application of a Solar Hot Water Systems in Shanghai
It is meaningful to substitute solar energy for conventional energy in the viewpoint of solar energy resource. The facades of buildings can be utilized as important solar collectors, and therefore become multifunctional. The most famous solar hot water demonstration projects in Shanghai were introduced in this paper, which included different integrated approaches. In the green office building demonstration project in Shanghai, the integration of solar collectors with building roof was realized by specially designed steel structure. For the residential buildings, solar collectors were mainly installed on the roofs. As a new integrated approach, San Xiang Real Estate Company of Shanghai tried to integrate solar collectors with balconies in their newly built high-rise residential buildings. This approach has been highly employed by architects and engineers, which will greatly improve solar thermal utilization in residential buildings of Shanghai.
