Analysis of Mining Dependence in Tezas at the County Level
This paper takes Texas as a case and gives a particular analysis on its dependence on mining industries at the county level. We find that Texas was more and more dependent on mining industries than the southwestern United States and the whole United States, though the mining dependence in Texas was not very high and dropped greatly recent years. The mining dependent counties were concentrated in West Texas and Northwest Texas. More than half of the dependent counties were from West Texas while Southeast Texas was nearly no mining dependency. As a dynamic phenomenon, mining dependency varies across time and regions.
