Corn Production Risk Analysis and Assessment in China
This paper adopts a widely used approach in international risk analysis to assess corn production risk in Chinese Corn Belt. The most appropriate parametric distributions for modeling corn yield risk in each sample are determined by moment ratio diagrams and Anderson-Darling test. The Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) approach is used to estimate the parameters of each distribution for these samples. It concludes that in Chinese Corn Belt, most regions exhibits negative skewness, the corn yield loss ratio is generally in the 5%-25% range and the probability of the lower and medium risk occurring axe from 22% to 40%.
