Urban Man-made Disaster Data Acquisition and Spatial Analysis:A Case Study of Shanghai City

We presented the data gathering scope, content, entry threshold and the disaster rank standards of man-made disasters in Shanghai city, and discussed methods such as geo-coding, interpolation and zonation applied to locating addresses, mapping and spatial analysis in an ArcGIS environment. Shanghai urban man-made disaster spatial distribution map and density map were generated based on the man-made disaster data from 2000 to 2006. Thus, we preliminarily divided and determined the high-incidence man-made disaster zones and clusters or centralized distribution regions of those disaster zones.
