ON THE USE OF ELEVATORS FOR SUPER-HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS EGRESS UNDER EMERGENCY SITUATIONS
Evacuation of people from the hazardous zones of super-high-rise buildings is per se a way to reduce the ill effects of disasters and is prima facie a critical component in building safety. Total evacuation may be necessary in some scenarios. But in fact, it is exhaustive for evacuees to travel to the ground level by their own effort in super high-rise buildings. This article presents a preliminary view of the elevator assisted egress process of super high-rise buildings. Computer simulations by using a well established egress model, Spatial Grid Evacuation Model, will be presented.
