Kernel Principal Component Analysis on Human Factors in Vessel Traffic Safety
In the field of shipping industry, human factor(HF) is the most important one which affects maritime safety. On the framework of caused factors in the ships safety system, the key elements in human factors were discussed to describe the principal factor of ships incidents. The model was involved to key elements in caused factors in human factor of vessel traffic incidents using the algorithms of principal component analysis(PCA) and kernel principal component analysis (KPCA). On basis of statistical data about ships traffic incidents or accidents or causalities in Fujian coastal area during the period of 2000 to 2006, some conclusions about the special elements can be conducted that some suggestions can be helpful for maritime safety.
