Comparative in Vitro Cytotozicity Assessment of Some Manufactured Nano-particulate Materials

The aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro cytotoxicity and inflammation of human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B) after exposure to various type and size of nanoparticles such as Ag, Au, Fe203, TiO2, and CNT. The cell viability was dose-dependently reduced for all materials except Au. The cytotoxicity of Ag and MWCNT was increased due to their smaller size. We have found that the Ag, CNT and small size Fe203 lead to cellular toxicity but Au and TiO2 were not toxic compared to other nano-materials. Depending on the size, though cytotoxicity was not observed in >100nm size, but medium toxicity observed in 50-100nm and we confirm that the <50nm NPs be significant toxicity.
