Numerical Analysis on Aerodynamic Interaction Characteristics among Tilt-Rotor/Wing/Fuselage in Conversion State

Based on the momentum-source model, a CFD analysis method has been developed to simulate the aerodynamic interaction flowfield of tilt-rotor in hovering and conversion state. A method used to add momentum-source term has been presented, which enabled the unsteady conversion numerical computation to be conducted based on grid system which used to simulate flowfield in hover without using moving-embedded grid technique. The present method reduced the complexity of the grid in conversion and simplified the process of computation, resulting in enhancing the flexibility of the using of momentum-source model. The validity of the present method is demonstrated by comparing the calculated results with available experimental data. Then, numerical analysis on aerodynamic interaction in conversion state which is difficult to simulate in wind-tunnel has been conducted, and some meaningful conclusions are obtained.
