Ezperimental Research of Propulsive Wing Using Cross-flow Fan
This article analyzes the aerodynamic characters of a new kind of propulsive wing at different angels of attack, different velocities of free stream and fan rotation speeds, the propulsive wing uses cross-flow fans as propeller, corresponding experiment verifies that cross-flow fans offer unique opportunity for flow control. The experimental result shows that the maximal lift coefficient of this configuration can be greater than 5.0 at 40° angle of attack. Since flow from the suction surface is ingested into the cross-flow fan, the flow separation at large angle of attack is effectively eliminated. This paper also studies changes of propulsive wings aerodynamic force with different experimental parameters and gives reasonable explanation.
