IMPLEMENTATION OF SURVEYING AND MAPPING SYSTEM FOR FARMLAND BASED ON SOA
Electronic map of farmland is an important basic data for precision agriculture. However, professional surveying equipment, cartographic software and technical staffs are needed during the cartography. Therefore the surveying and mapping system for farmland using GPS, GPRS and Server GIS is designed and implemented. The system is based on service-oriented architecture (SOA) and consists of four parts, data layer, component layer, service layer and application layer. The first three parts, as the core of the whole system, provide the necessary web services of data and function, such as electronic map automatic generation, remote sensing image and surveying and mapping results download. The application layer, as the requester to these services, consists of two parts, the surveying and mapping equipment for farmland based on smart phones and the management system of map data. The former can download high-resolution remote sensing image based on the coordinates of surveying region, upload the data of surveying recorded, and download and display the preliminary mapping results in order to checking and correcting the results at the scene. The latter provides rapid ways to browse, query and download the electronic map of farmland by the web client. The system has been applied at the State Precision Agriculture Demonstration Base in Beijing. The results show that this system is able to achieve fast cartography of farmland which includes fields, facilities and orchards.
