NONDESTRUCTIVE DETECTION OF EGG FRESHNESS BASED ON COMPUTER VISION TECHNOLOGY

A series of experimets were carried out to study the relationship between the freshness and image characters, such as area of egg yolk, area of egg air room and the area of total egg). Based on the data, a model was built to quantitively describe the relationship of egg freshness (Haff value), the index of egg yolk and storage time. The digital images and the relative images characters were obtained by high-resolution digital cameras using reverse direction method with cold light illumination(intensity of illumination is approximate 10000Lux). It was found that the york index and freshness are linear, and the equation is: y=-10.356x+104.322(x is the index of egg yolk, y is the Haff value (egg freshness ), R=0.965, α<0.05). The model between egg storage time and image characters is well described by equation:t=-0.330x2+0.607x +1.843y-5.269(y is the index of egg yolk, i.e. area of egg yolk /area of total egg, x is the index of egg air room, i.e. area of egg air room/total egg area.), t is the egg storage time, R=0.987, α<0.05). Using this model, the egg storage time could be easily predicted with image characters.
