APPLICATION OF NEAR INFRARED SPECTROMETER IN RAPID ESTIMATION OF SUGAR CONTENT OF APPLE
As a Nondestructive method, NIR measurement of the sugar content of fruits is widely studied allover the world. How to enhance the measurement accuracy and reliability is more and more important. The objective of this research was to determine how NIR measurements of sugar content of apples were affected by spectra pretreatment and regression method. FieldSpec 3(ASD Co., USA) were used for collecting spectra from a group of 58 crystal Fuji apples. 40 of them were used to develop the calibration model, the rest 18 were used to predict the sugar content. 8 kinds of spectra correction algorithms were used and evaluated in this work. The relationship between laboratory sugar content and 400-1100nm spectra of apple fruits were analyzed via principle component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS) regression method using unscrambler9.8 software (CAMO Co., USA). Among them, the Baseline correction and PLS produced best noise removing capability, and obtained optimal calibration models. This PLS model could predict sugar content of 18 samples of prediction set with correlation coefficient of 0.86 and SEP of 0.55%brix.
