PRECISION AGRICULTURE AND THE COMPLEXITY OF MULTI-SCALE PROCESSES

Crop production involves a large number of processes that occur at different spatial scales as well as at many different rates. It can be called a multi-scale process. Precision agriculture then must take into account or be aware of these different scales. Furthermore, the processes occur under uncertain and very variable conditions. Multivariate process control can be a useful tool for decision making in the framework of precision agriculture. Stochastic model based predictive control is explored to control machinery that has to operate under the uncertain agricultural production environment.
