The Development of a Hand-held Multi-spectral Camera based on FPGA
A multi-spectral camera is introduced to make up the traditional defects in this article, which is sensitive to NIR, red and green lights. It is with three CMOS sensors to collect the lights in the three wave-lengths. Besides, an FPGA is used to serve as the control unit. The information collected is stored as BMP files into a CompactFlash. card. The NIOS-II CPU provided by the Altera Corporation is the core controller. The purpose of utilizing I2C serial port is to configure the CMOS sensor. A waveform generation module is developed in the system to generate necessary waveforms for the CMOS sensors. This module communicates with the NIOS-II CPU via the waveform generation interface. Moreover, several experiment results are given and compared in this article to demonstrate that this multi-spectral camera is eligible. Finally discussed is the plan to improve the performance of the camera.
