Preliminary Study on the Governance of Modular Organization
In recent years, modular organization has experienced rapid development in both theoretical and practical field. And the momentum continues. For the deficiency of operating mechanism, the governance of modular organization is discussed in this paper. Firstly, a three-dimension elements framework of nodes-rulesknowledge of modular organization is summarized. Secondly, the essence of governance of modular organization is analyzed. It shows that the governance of modular organization belongs to the scope of network governance, which commits to two key issues: power and efficiency. Therefore, three kinds of transformation are needed: mutually benefit and symbiosis of nodes against value deviation, inheritance and evolvement of rules against contract dilemma, absorption and reconstruction of knowledge against complexity catastrophe. Finally, a model of governance mechanism of modular organization is constructed. The governance of modular organization should form a structure of common property rights based on authority of core enterprise. Also it must pursues dominant design and participant design as a means to rules modularity, and knowledge structured which adopts the realization form of property knowledge core and united think tank.
