Chinese Culture Influences on Implementation of HILAS Systems
This paper was aiming to research the characteristics of Chinese national culture and find their influences on implementation of HILAS (Human Integration into the Lifecycle of Aviation Systems) systems in China. A culture survey was conducted broadly among several typical Chinese civil aviation enterprises by using Prof. Geert Hofstedes culture survey method which was called VSM (Values Survey Module), and the survey results was analyzed by using his five-dimension culture theory. Then 5 visible Chinese culture characteristics which were higher Power Distance, Collectivism, Femininity, Low Uncertainty Avoidance and Long Term Orientation were obtained and their influences on implementation of HILAS systems were analyzed meanwhile. These culture characteristics would affect HILAS system implementation process on the aspects of the leadership, data and knowledge management, project management and change management through its soft restriction on human behavior, then impact the implementation result ultimately. A conclusion was attained that Chinese culture characteristics could make a positive effect in the system implementation process, and also make adverse effect at the same time. Finally numbers of positive recommendations on implementation of HILAS systems were proposed out from the perspective of culture in conclusion session.
