Development of Prototype Interfaces for the Control of a Micro-Aerial Vehicle
Three prototype interfaces were developed to investigate the effectiveness of the interfaces for the control of a micro-aerial vehicle (MAV). The first prototype on a tablet PC was used to conduct a focus group study to validate a statement of requirements for a MAV system. Based on the studys findings, another prototype interface on a Nokia Internet Tablet with a touch screen was also developed. The second prototype interface was implemented on a SONY PlayStation Portable with tactile buttons. The interfaces on the two handheld devices will be used for a planned empirical investigation of operator performance. The results will help guide operator interface design for systems with similar requirements.
