Public Illumination and Ergonomics: The impact of the Intrusive Light on the biological night
This paper aims to contribute to the discussion of the impacts generated by artificial light on the human being in his relation to the nocturnal urban environment, taking into account the importance that the light/dark environmental cycles exert on the temporization of the biologic rhythms during the day/night alternation. The exaggerated spread of light - light pollution - when invading adjacent places to luminous spots may cause discomfort and serious disturbances to the health of residents of surrounding edifications when deprived of absolute darkness. Thus, after the empirical approximation between the human answer and the intrusive light generated by public illumination, it is questioned, through a study case, the reach of projectual parameters which exist in the obtainment of a current and future scenario of public illu mination equally co mmitted to the citys physical and human environ ment.
