Some Anthropometry Standards for Soldiers in Ancient China

This paper introduces two major cases of developments and applications of Anthropometry in Ancient China.1) An ancient book, Kao Gong Ji of Zhou Li, gives guidelines for height of cart and length of weapon, with concerning of body sizes of human performers. This book was written mostly by Chi people in about two thousand years ago. 2) In Song Dynasty, ergonomic standards including height standard for the organization and remuneration of soldiers, the body size and strength standard for soldier selection, the weight standard for Song infantry armor and the retirement age were established.
