Digital Ergonomics: its Applications in Product and Workplace Design
This presentation introduces the research and development in digital human modeling, and its applications in design and workplace evaluations. The content of the presentation includes: the validation of the 3D scanner, the construction of digital human models using 3D scanner and 2D images, the automated anthropometric data collection from 3D human models, the customized clothing design and fabrication, motion generations for animating 3D human models, digital mockup and system interface design, virtual simulation and workplace evaluations. A virtual interactive procedure is proposed for system interface design and evaluation. The use of digital mockup in product and workplace design is proactive, cost effective, and time efficient. By using the proposed digital human modeling methodologies, the concept of human-centered design can be realized, and the total user satisfaction can be assured.
