Psychological rehabilitation and management after Wenchuan earthquake

Damage produced and impacts by the Wenchuan earthquake in China and psychological rehabilitation activities carried out by psychologists from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences were reviewed. Based on psychological assistance experiences from 7 aiding stations for last 9 months, three models of psychological service which fit the Chinese situations were concluded. With the lessons learnt some suggestions for future work of psychology in Sichuan earthquake areas as well as for other national disasters were discussed. A psychological assistance scheme for 20 years and corresponding long-term planning were suggested. The role of communication and communication means in the psychological help were discussed specifically.
