Kansei Engineering and Its Application to Developing New Preventing Bedsore Mattress

Kansei Engineering was applied to develop a new mattress preventing bedsore (pressure sore). A variety of low rebounding mattresses are used for clients, because soft one is thought better to heavy body pressure. The risks of bedsore are Pressure, Friction between body and mattress surface and others. The direct cause is the blood stop due to pressure. Ergonomics and kansei engineering were applied to find the best polyester fiver with 3-dimensional spring structure (named as Breathair). We constructed a new mattress using this material very effective to prevent bedsore and Stage Ⅱand Ⅲ of bedsore recovered in a few weeks or a few months.
