To Work or not to Work in an Eztended Working Life
For a great part of the industrial world the middle age increases, which results in a demographic change. In a lot of countries this causes a situation where the community needs to promote an extended working life if they want to maintain the welfare state. In this case the working life probably needs to be age adjusted to take care of the aging work force. It is therefore interesting to study the circumstances for why some people are healthy workers and work beyond the age of 65 at the same working places where others give up before they are 55 years old. The studies examine elderly workers attitudes towards the working life, but also managers attitudes towards their elder employees. The presentation will also discuss a forthcoming qualitative project which is going to examine why some people at Swedens most dangers work places despite a physical and psychical demanding work situation work until an older age than in other work places.
