Epistemology and applicability of the regulation’s concepts: the common sense to the analysis of work
The concept of regulation has been widely discussed within the ergonomics of the Work Psychology and the Work Psychodynamics. But that is referring to when it comes to regulation in terms of activity work? What are the definitions? The answer to these questions requires the recovery of the genesis of the scientific use of the regulation and monitoring concepts and the implementation of these in the science of behavior, in particular, the ergonomics of Franco-Belgian approach that has as central object of study in human activity in the work situation. Depending on the need to rescue the epistemology of the regulations concept, this article aims to conduct a review of the literature to discuss the studies found on the main issue. In methodological terms, a literature search from works of Biology, Psychology, and from international databases: Scielo, BvS-psi, Lilacs, Emerald, Medline, Scopus, Science Direct, Ebsco and Ovid. Since this information was structured: biology: the science of common sense; the genetic epistemology of Jean Piaget: from biological science to behavior science; the Jacques Leplat′s work psychology; the Christophe Dejours′s psychodynamic of the work; ergonomic analysis; the process of work adjustment: planning and action of the employees. There is a shortage of publications to explain regulation′s trajectory like a construct. Moreover, although widespread in the analysis of work, the concept of regulation is not always accompanied by its definition. Faced with this fact, it appears the need to strive to complete surveys that contribute to a better understanding of the conceptual and operational regulation of work, since it is a key factor in ergonomics. To both common sense and for the science, regulation is one of the mechanisms used by a body or system to return to the state of internal balance, as opposed to a change caused by the environment. However, the ergonomic approach, it is one of the strategies used by the operator to administer the distance between the prescribed and actual activity in the task. The lawsuit has implications in the regular repertoire of methods of workers, means they are prepared individually and collectively to balance the variability and unpredictability of the work situation, solve problems and anticipate incidents and minimize the cost of inappropriate prescribing in the performance of the activity. It follows therefore, that the worker is not merely a performer, but an operator in the sense that it makes the management of requirements, not passively submitting to them. He learned acting, adapting their behavior to changes both in its internal state as the elements of the situation. Decide on the most appropriate action, invents tricks, build skills to ensure their effectiveness at work.
