Intercultural accessibility in capital equipment
The functional complexity of nowadays and future control center needs ergonomically optimized interfaces. The company SIG Combibloc GmbH knows about the exigency of user centered interfacedesign in capital equipment. The SIG aspires a complete new engineering and design of the control of their filling machines. It is a touchscreen-based control of the processes of prearrangement of the package, filling and downstream. Ideally filling machine are controlled by users with a high level of education and experience, so a certain complexity is admissible. Nowadays and in the future more and more less qualified users will do the supervision. The SIG is a global player in packaging and has to assure an intercultural save and effective interaction between user and technology. Especially with the knowledge about different user groups, this argument becomes a primary one. This situation faces the designers with the task, to develop an interface that is operable with less knowledge about the system complexity - and it has to be interculturally comprehensible. This paper describes and discusses the methods in design and the execution in hard-and software.
