The Actual Conditions of VDT Operation and Fatigue by Progress of ICT
In this study, we discuss the actual conditions of VDT operation in Japan according to the result of the “Field Survey on Technological Innovation and Labor, which was conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in 1998 and 2003. Also, we discuss the actual causation of mental fatigue, stress, and physical fatigue on VDT operation and point out some labor health related issues occurred in the companies. Furthermore, we verify through experiments that VDT operation during the nighttime tends to increase due to the diversification of working hours in the telework and that the workers tend to be more fatigued or stressed comparing to the daytime work. With these verifications, we point out the necessity of countermeasures.
