A Study on Motivation Process Based on Inferiority Complez
This study examined an existence of this specific motivation based on the inferiority complex through the verifying of a hypothesis; the people having both of high achievement motivation and high inferiority complex were existent. For our purpose, we carried out the questionnaire investigation toward Japanese university students in 2008. The valid data of this study was 329 (males=232, females=97). The average age of this sample was 19.9 (SD=1.41). The questionnaire was composed of the achievement motivation scale (horino, 1987) and inferiority complex scale (toyoda,2002). As the results, significant negative correlation was shown significantly between (r=-.22, p<.01). And we carried out cluster analysis using the scores of both scales (achievement motivation score: cluster 3 > cluster 2 > cluster 4 > cluster 1, p<.05; inferiority complex score: cluster 1 > cluster 2 > cluster 3 > cluster 4, p<.05). The results of these analysis supported our hypothesis. Summarizing these results, this study indicated that although people who had higher inferiority complex actually showed lower motivation on the whole, some sample with high inferiority complex showed high motivation.
