Motion Generation from Semantics

As the growing complexity in product and manufacturing system, virtual prototyping is becoming an inevitable activity in design process. To consider the ergonomics issues widely spread in the product lifecycle, digital human model (DHM) is adopted to be the substitute for real human for proactive evaluation. The method of motion generation from semantics (MGS) was developed in this research. The features of MGS method include virtual prototyping, natural language instruction, MTM translator, and motion generator. The method was implemented in a commercial product lifecycle (PLM) system and tested in an automotive company. The intuition and consistency brought from MGS method enable designers to recursively improve their ergonomics and efficiency in design.
