Towards optimizing P300 Speller matriz design while decreasing human error
The primary purpose of this paper was to systematically evaluate the overall effect of the number of target characters on the outer rows or columns on a P300-based brain-computer interface (BCI), P300 Speller, so as to optimize the P300 Speller matrix design while decreasing the human error. Results of the study indicated that the task performance of P300 Speller users can be significantly affected by the number of target characters on the outer rows or columns. This study should provide some insights into a more user-friendly user interface of the P300 Speller to improve users performance and reduce his/her workload at the same time.
