WEB-BASED EVALUATION OF THE AFFECTIVE SATISFACTION TOWARD MOBILE PHONE DESIGNS
As affective satisfaction is an important factor influencing consumers buying behavior, studies on affective engineering are popular these days. A variety of studies have been conducted to develop affective satisfaction models that describe relationship between affective satisfaction and design features of consumer electronic devices, especially mobile phones. However, developing the models is usually time-consuming and requires many participants for an evaluation experiment. Therefore, in industry environment, it is difficult to continue to update the models that are expected to change frequently. This study proposes an automatic web-based approach to efficiently develop affective satisfaction models toward mobile phones. To validate the approach, a total of 30 mobile phones were evaluated through a web based evaluation system. Then, a total of 36 affective satisfaction models were developed, of which the adjusted R2 was 0.91 on the average. The results of this study are expected to help designers to get feedback on their products in terms of affective satisfaction in a timely manner at a relatively low cost.
