Follow-up of MSD prevention interventions in companies

Eight corrective interventions initiated by Quebecs workers compensation board (CSST) inspectors were followed in seven companies in the context of a pilot project. Before and after the corrective measures were implemented, the risk factors were evaluated using ten classical methods. Case studies were carried out at the end of the intervention for six work situations. Various changes were introduced in the six cases followed. Positive impacts on production and quality were also noted in the majority of cases. Also noted were more general impacts on labour relations, the involvement in prevention and the understanding of MSDs. This pilot study shows the interest of the approach used by the CSST. Further investigation with a larger sample is important to obtain a more definitive conclusion.
