Pain, discomfort and musculoskeletal risk in mussel cultivation: a case study

In the activity of shelling mussel, pain complains and discomfort were analyzed, according to the use of Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) and the Protocol for Musculoskeletal Risk Assessment (RARME). These evaluations were integrating parts of Work Ergonomic Analysis and they indicated complaints related to inferior part of back (lumbar region), hips, thighs, and knees. Achieved results seem to be related to shelling activity and to other stages of mussel cultivation as well. Lastly, the produced information aims to contribute to work planning and ergonomic interventions, favoring the safe work and with quality.
