Physical Flezibility Training Program Macroergonomics Proposal for a Group of Workers in a Public Services Company in Colombia

The Flexibility Conditioning Program for workers of a public services company consists of an exercise plan which takes into account the individual physical conditions, especially flexibility, of each person in a group of workers who must walk irregular paths in order to get to rural and urban locations. They are permanently exposed to risks related to an outdoor environment and the presence of animals in their path, moreover other persons that in their tasks are required to maintain prolonged static postures (sitting posture in office, work in heights and work in confined spaces). This programs approach takes into account the level of absence caused by events related directly or indirectly to the management of the corporal structures taking the most significant pathologies in the companys interior: manipulation of external elements with different characteristics and weights, which are linked to a high percentage of health issues related to overweight and a sedentary lifestyle. The objective of this program points towards the adequate maintenance of the muscle-joint structures of the body in terms of flexibility since this quality is part of the bodys functional performance, a joint system with a large movement range would permit a worker to move loosely, overcome obstacles, obtain better balance and maneuvering conditions of the elements required for the activity, as well as improve his physical and mental condition through exercise. It is a macro ergonomic proposal, planted through a methodology which includes a managers decisions in order to adopt health and safety strategies in the workplace, motivation for a healthy life style which is reflected in the workers performance. The program is developed by means of a flexibility training program in the companys Gym. The training will last eight weeks with two weekly sessions of one hour each, during work hours. When the plan comes to an end the ranges of mobility are once again measured in order to define the programs impact on the worker.
