ILLNESSES WITHOUT THE ILL: OCCURRENCE OF WORK RELATED MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS – WRMD IN BANK TELLERS.
The changes incurred in the financial system, with the introduction of new technologies and new forms of administration of banks, have brought up serious impact for workers health. The Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disordes -WRMD represent a group of occupational diseases always present among these workers, notably in bank tellers. This paper aims to research the occurrence of WRMD in the activity. Methodological tools of ergonomics are used to provide a broad knowledge of aspects of work that have been studied, which influenced the generation of occupational diseases, as we studied. They have also noted cases of WRMD illnesses in workers, in which the fulfillment of legal requirements, such as the issuance of communication of labor accident (CAT) and release of employee from active duty. The reasons that led the company to evade information about the occurrence of WRMD were: not admitting the existence in the workplace of cause-effect element as for reported employees diseases; ensuring that employees do not get full benefit of stability due to accidents; not having to deposit additional contribution of 8％ of employment compensation benefits (FGTS); not having to admit guilt as a generator of occupational diseases and not to cause an increase in welfare statistics.
