Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders: Ezamples from Thailand
Musculoskeletal disorders is one of the major occupational injury problems in Thailand. The National Institute for the Improvement of Working Conditions and Environment (NICE) has been trying many ways to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders. One of the projects is “Occupational Safety and Health Improvement Award for the factories that their improvements can be example for other factories. The improvements are including ergonomics improvements that can prevent or reduce musculoskeletal disorders. Another project is “Ergonomics Improvement for Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders by applying ISO/TS 20646-1 (Ergonomic procedures for the improvement of local muscular workloads - part 1: Guidelines for reducing local muscular workloads) as our guideline for our activity. From our factory visit, we found that musculoskeletal disorders can be prevented or reduced.
