Promotion of safety management and ergonomics in small and medium sized enterprises
Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) form a very heterogeneous group of companies operating in most sectors of the market. In Europe and in Finland 99.8 percent of enterprises are small and medium sized (SME). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the suitability of existing OSH methods available for SMEs and to promote safety management by improving the possibility of SMEs to acquire these methods and thereby initiate and reinforce OSH practices. An Internet portal was developed for Finnish SMEs to improve and support the availability, facilitation, and implementation of OSH development methods and also offer practical safety information. The portal was developed in collaboration with SMEs.
