Strategic decision making: work analysis of a company manager
The first researches and interventions in ergonomics were about operators of “first line. They were interested in prevention questions of health and security or the development of regulation strategies. Work evolutions, demands and a need of more global understanding of work situations brought the ergonomics to instruct management employee of proximity then the one of managers. However, decision sphere remains little explored today. If disciplines as sciences of the management or psychology study leaderhip and some research in sociology effects of the direction work on managers, no doesnt treat the work activity of company managers that they are a chairman and managing director, general manager or administrators. Our research aims therefore to analyze the company manager work. With the help of a methodology based on the observation, the interview and the documentary analysis, we tempt to understand the company manager work activity and to seize elements that make that in a globalized environment he contributes by his decisions and his strategies to the performance of his firm. The stake is therefore to seize the decision making process in order to understand the construction and the operationalization of the strategy of the firm and effects in terms of economic performance and occupational health and security.
