An ergonomic look at the work environment
This paper discusses a methodology for the ergonomic intervention in a constructed environment based on Ergonomic Analysis of the Workplace (EAW). EAW is employed as support to the analysis of physical aspects of the constructed environment, in which each step that makes up the analysis was adapted with the aim of assessing the environment in use, but could also be employed in the design phase. The use of tools from environmental psychology is suggested for an understanding of users perceptions regarding their surroundings. With the crossing of data obtained in the physical analysis with those of the perceptual analysis, assessments are carried out with the aim of determining the relationships between variables in the workplace.
