Psychosocial risks at work in Southern Brazil: A Study on the Employees in Public Service

This study aims to determine whether the psychosocial risk factors are predictors of occupational illness in a cross section of employees of public service in a state in southern Brazil, in a wide variety of occupations. Among the psychosocial factors addressed in this study, it is highlighted the organization, conditions and social relations of work. Method: a descriptive-exploiting study through a survey data from 300 medical health records of medical expertise, based on the decomposition of psychosocial variables. The data were processed by descriptive statistics, using the Software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 11.0.As a result, it shows that the data were processed by descriptive statistics and the result shows that the worker is subjected to psychosocial risks, suffering and psychological illness at work, besides representing costs to the State, to the company, and to himself/herself. The conclusion refers to the invisible suffering and the consequences with social welfare benefits and profitability decrease of organizations.
