EFFECTS OF BUMPER STIFFNESS OF FORGING MANIPULATOR ON HOT FOFMING OF HEAVY FORGING
Heavy forgings, which are often produced by open-die forging with the help of large-scale manipulator, are key parts of large equipments used in some industries. In this study, the effects of the bumper stiffness of forging manipulator on the hot forming of heavy forging during drawing out were investigated using numerical simulation. The results show that the horizontal displacements of the heavy forgings jaw end vary with the horizontal bumper stiffness and the vertical displacements of the heavy forgings jaw end changes with vertical bumper stiffness. However, both the effects of horizontal bumper stiffness on vertical displacements and those of vertical bumper stiffness on horizontal displacements of the heavy forgings jaw end are not significant. The zero-displacement section of the heavy forging is significantly affected by the bumper stiffness of forging manipulator.
