THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR AUTOMATIC CONSTRUCTION OF ORTHOGONAL ARRAYS AND ITS APPLICATIONS

An orthogonal array of size N, the number of factors m, the number of levels q, strength t and index λ is a N×m array with entries from a set of q symbols, so that in any N×t subarray every 1×t row occurs exactly λ times. We denote such an array by OA(N, m, q, t). The orthogonal array is widely used to obtain unbiased estimates of given various effects with the smallest possible number of trials in experimental design. In a practical use, it is necessary to construct orthogonal arrays whose strength is 2 and partially strength 3 and 4. In such situations, we developed the computer program written by Microsoft Visual C++ language that can automatically construct orthogonal arrays of strength t, with t=2, 3, 4 and q being a prime power. We tested this computer program using many models and obtained good results, and this program system can also apply to software testing which is used to validate the correctness of programs as well as to weed out defects.
