THE DIMENSION ACCURACY ANALYSIS OF WIRE-FLAT ROLLING PROCESS

In wire flat rolling, wire of circular cross-section is cold rolled between the flat rolls in one pass to achieve the desired thickness-to-width ratio. However, during wire flat rolling process, the dimension accuracy of the wire was poor due to the effect of spring back. In order to control the dimension accuracy, to know the quantity of spring back precisely is very important. The DEFORM finite element analysis software was used to simulate the wire flat rolling process with the elastic-plastic deformation model. This article is pointed to the effect of reduction ratio, deformation load and side flow to the quantity of spring back. If the variation of spring back under different rolling condition is known, the dimension accuracy of the workpiece would be increased through the wire flat rolling process.
