METHODOLOGY TO DETERMINE THE INSTALLED CAPACITY IN AN ACADEMIC PROGRAM
For the Colombian Ministry of National Education, one of the key variables to ensure the sustainability of the service provided by the institutions of the State Universitary System, is the measurement of the installed capacity of themselves, so that will enable it to know the expansion and growth limits, without affecting optimum levels of efficiency. The Universidad del Valle is an institution that is part of this system. It is composed of 7 faculties and 2 institutes, which contain about 70 academic programs and more than 20,000 students. Each of these students have the flexibility to enroll subjects belonging to different academic units and different semesters, allowing a combination of options that make it difficult to know the capacity in terms of the number of students to be served. In that sense this document is presented as a methodology for measuring the capacity of service (in students attended per semester) in one of the academic programs of this University.
