FEATURE RECOGNITION AS A BASIS FOR THE COST ALLOCATION AND DECISION MAKING TOOLSET
The aim of the paper is to introduce an approach for product feature recognition in order to elicit process specific knowledge for the manufacturing of sheet metal products manufacturing purposes. Product knowledge is seen as a combination of product specific information, such as functionality, material, topology and corresponding product model. This knowledge includes geometrical and non-geometrical information, which is represented through features. The features are the foundation elements of the knowledge representation which can be used for analysis and knowledge acquisition. In the present paper an approach to derive the essential manufacturing specific knowledge from the product model is proposed to be used for a cost allocation, process planning and production system definition.
