DECISION SUPPORT FRAMEWORK FOR ORDER REVIEW/RELEASE BASED ON WORKLOAD
This paper presents a Decision Support System (DSS) framework for order review and release based on limits of workload in flexible job shop environment. A data-driven simulation model based on HyperSim to support Order Review/release (ORR) is at the core of the framework. The system utilizes the simulation model to determine the load limits for each workstation in order to achieve high delivery reliability and low work-in-process (WIP), based on such factors as the planned output, dispatching rule, pre-shop pool sequencing rule, and length of review period. Recommendations on the releases of orders are made based on the workload at each work center. In addition, analysis tools are included in the prototype to support the evaluation of system performance under different planning scenarios and to provide decision makers some useful insights into potential problems.
