HYBRID PRODUCTION PLANNING SYSTEM IN MAKE-TO-ORDER COMPANY – CASE

The major aim of each production company is making profit by producing goods. This paper presents building hybrid production planning and shop floor control system in make-to-order manufacturing of complex products. Different conditions of a manufacturing environment cause that hybrid production systems are very often the best solution for them. The decision-making process requires complex analysis of those conditions. The conditions of make-to-order manufacturing of complex products with a long lead time have a specific character for manufacturing environment. This article presents general idea of multihybrid system and practical aspects of its creation and implementation. The construction of this system formed planning and executive levels and main core of integration and support tools. The research was done in Marine Diesel Engines Factory, HCP S.A. Poznan conditions. HCP S.A. Poznan is the biggest producer of high-power marine engines in Europe. The lead-time of the final product is between 9 months and 1 year, and takes about 40.000 hours per one engine. The main problems of these shop-floor conditions are high level of work in progress and too long lead-time, which involves a lot of expenses. The flow of material stream is extremely complex and represents “A-plant topologies (V-A-T analysis) with strong internal constraints (“bottlenecks).
